Our client in the Construction Materials and Ready Mix sector is looking for a proactive and collaborative FP&A Consultant to join their team in Markham! Reporting to the General Manager and working alongside the Manufacturing Controller, you will be responsible for providing accounting support and analyzing company accounting data to maximize company growth and profitability potential. You will be working closely with the operations, accounting, and management teams, along with other stakeholders to obtain and verify information for the monthly close process. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for:
• Partner with operations, accounting, and finance team to ensure accuracy of purchases, payables, and overall results.
• Review and analyze month-end results for your sites, and follow-up on issues and questions during the closing period.
• Ensure accruals and G/L accounts are complete and timely.
• Lead and/or participate in monthly financial meetings with other finance partners, management and operations.
• Partner with operations and management to ensure proper procedures and policies are communicated and maintained properly on-site.
• Review fuel, parts, and material costs with management and strategize to improve company profitability.
• Review disposal costs and analyze any significant changes.
• Prepare and distribute summary reporting files for the finance and management team.
• Maintain and reconcile fixed asset subledgers with annual counts and confirmations.
• Assist in the preparation of working papers for annual audits and internal audits.
• Prepare ad hoc reporting, analysis and investigation as needed.
• Other responsibilities when needed.

Requirements and experiences

The ideal candidate would have and be good at:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a relevant field.
• 3+ years of relevant work experience (accounting, financial analyst, etc.) in the construction materials manufacturing or ready mix sector.
• CPA designation or working towards would be an asset.
• Excel: This is a must-have! Strong background in utilizing Microsoft Excel for accounting analysis will be preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills and highly collaborative, but also independent and self-directive.
• Dedicated to solving problems and process improvement. You love taking on challenges and finding creative solutions.
• Manipulating various data and files to produce reports and analyzing results.
• Self-motivated; you’re a self-starter and take pride in achieving corporate and personal goals and objectives.
• Managing multiple time-sensitive tasks to completion, engaging external and internal business partners for input when needed.
• Looking for better ways to operate; seeking efficiencies, suggesting other options to improve overall company productivity.
